British Fashion Awards 2008 shortlist released

The British Fashion Council has unveiled the nominees shortlist for the much-anticipated British Fashion Awards 2008, supported by Swarovski. Established in 1989, the Awards recognise the best British fashion talent, who collectively play a key role in ensuring the UK's position as a creative and commercial force to be reckoned with in a highly competitive global market. The winners in the ten categories will be announced at the British Fashion Awards on Tuesday, November 25 - a night attended by over 500 fashion industry insiders, celebrities and VIPs.

Who will take home the Designer of the Year gong - the night's ultimate accolade - which is presented to a leading British designer who has directed the shape of fashion over the past year, both in the UK and internationally? And which British designer's longstanding career and impact on the on the international industry will be celebrated with the BFC Award for Outstanding Achivement in Fashion Design?

Then there's the question of our two new awards - the Swarovski-sponsored Emerging Talent Awards for Ready to Wear and for Accessories, which will highlight the two new names to watch. As with the other eight awards, the two winners are chosen by key players within the industry, so no doubt it will just be a matter of time before whoever scoops these trophies will be making a significant impact on the international fashion scene.
